Ingredients:

1 kg lamb (or beef)
200 g dried prunes
2 large onions, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp saffron
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp sugar
3 tbsp butter or oil
Salt to taste
1/2 cup water or broth
1 tsp toasted sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions:

In a pot, heat the butter or oil and add the lamb, cut into medium-sized pieces. Stir-fry until it is lightly browned.
Add the chopped onions and garlic, continuing to stir until the onions soften.
Add the spices: cinnamon, ginger, saffron, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.
Add the water or broth, and let it boil for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until the meat becomes tender.
Meanwhile, soak the dried prunes in warm water for about 15 minutes.
After the meat is tender, add the prunes and sugar, and let it simmer for another 10 minutes until the prunes are soft.
If desired, sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on top of the dish when serving.
Serve with couscous or rice.

This dish is perfect for special occasions and gatherings.
